DESCRIPTION:Route 22 proudly presents our next SOLO Exhibition in our downtown Cochrane Gallery location! \n“Landscapes of Alberta” – Art Exhibition featuring the art of landscape painter JP Forget. \nThis exhibition is showing from June 23 – July 19\, 2026. \n“I find it a captivating challenge\, to take a blank canvas or panel\, and create a painting which will tell a story\, depict the intricacies of a scene\, expose a message\, and generate an emotional response from the viewer. This is my mission when I paint: to communicate a message about the world we live in.” \nJP Forget blends the boundaries of impressionistic interpretation and realism\, bringing to life the magic of nature\, the intensity of the seasons\, and the rugged beauty Alberta’s west country.

DESCRIPTION:Crafternoons at Route 22! \nStep into the Route 22 Makerspace with the Cochrane Crafting Collective to enjoy some social\, low-key\, and self-directed creating time in a space full of creative inspiration! \nDates: \n\nTuesdays & Sundays\, Weekly\n\nTimes: \n\nTuesdays: 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM\nSundays: 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM\n\nLocation: Route 22 Artist Collective Gallery \nCost: FREE with optional registration HERE | (These session are open for drop-in!) \nAudience: Ages 15+ \nCrafters are welcome to come and make use of the Route 22 Makerspace\, within the Route 22 gallery to enjoy some social\, low-key and self-directed creative time in a highly creative environment. \nOur members artists will be on site in the gallery during these hours and the gallery is also open to the public during these times. There is a small kitchen area (kettle\, coffee make\, fridge) and washroom available for the drop-in sessions. SUMMARY:Canada Council for the Arts Funding for Alberta Artists
DESCRIPTION:Funding for Alberta Artists by Canada Council for the Arts \nMeet Francine Cunningham\, Artist Liaison Consultant for the Canada Council for the Arts’ Alberta Focus Initiative\, and learn about grants\, awards and opportunities available to Alberta-based artists. The session includes a brief presentation followed by a Q&A\, and is open to artists of all disciplines and experience levels! \nDate: July 7th\, 2026\nTime: 6:00 PM\nLocation: Route 22 Artist Collective Gallery \nFree & open for all to attend! \nThe Alberta Focus Initiative: The Alberta Focus Initiative is a two-year commitment that aims to strengthen engagement and collaboration with Alberta’s vibrant arts community\, as well as to deepen the Council’s understanding of the community’s unique realities. Two Alberta-based arts liaison consultants will establish an on-the-ground presence for the Canada Council in Alberta. The consultants will engage with communities across the province to increase awareness of and access to funding opportunities and provide the Canada Council with field intelligence. They will ensure that meaningful support is accessible to a diverse range of artists and arts organizations\, particularly in communities that have been historically underserved. \nFor more information about the Canada Council for the Arts Alberta Focus Initiative visit here! \nFrancine Cunningham is an award-winning writer\, artist and educator and is a member of the Saddle Lake Cree Nation\, in Alberta\, but grew up in Calgary\, Edmonton\, and 100 Mile House\, British Columbia. Francine is also Métis and has settler family roots stretching from as far away as Ireland and Belgium. She currently resides in rural southern Alberta\, where she spends her days writing and mentoring emerging artists. \nAs part of her role with the Canada Council\, Francine will focus on rural Albertans\, Indigenous communities both on and off reserve and those needing extra support with understanding the granting process at the Canada Council\, both virtually and in person through information sessions\, webinars and one-on-one visits. She looks forward to providing information on granting programs and funding opportunities\, creating greater connections in the Alberta Arts ecosystem and looking for ways to make Alberta-based artists’ voices heard. \nFor more information about the Canada Council for the Arts Alberta Focus Initiative visit here!
