Following 3 short demonstrations of the initial rough in\, the block in\, and the painting finish\, participants will proceed with using the aforementioned technique for themselves. \nDate: Saturday May 30th\, 2025 \nLocation: Cochrane Historic Ranche \nTime: 12:30 PM – 3:30 PM \nCost: $25.00 \nAudience: Adults Only – 18+ \nAttire: Dress for being outside. Warm layers\, sunscreen\, etc. Pack water or something warm to drink. \n**Please Note: In case of rain\, this workshop will be moved to the Centennial Plaza in downtown Cochrane\, for coverage (across the street from the Rocky View Hotel on Mainstreet).** \nWhat Participants Need to Bring: \n\nOil or Acrylic Paints: one red\, one yellow\, one blue and white. There is a small kitchen area (kettle\, coffee make\, fridge) and washroom available for the drop-in sessions. Learn the fundamentals of shaping stone and creating a finished sculptural piece with artist and Soapstone master Michael Emery. \nIn this guided\, beginner-friendly introduction to soapstone carving\, participants will learn basic carving techniques\, safe material handling\, and simple hand-sanding methods using water to reduce dust. \nWith the ability to choose from a small set of pre-selected shapes and designs\, participants will be able to create a finished sculptural piece. \nThe emphasis is on process\, experimentation\, and creative confidence rather than artistic perfection. \nNo prior experience is required\, and each participant will leave with a completed stone carving they created themselves. \nDates: Wednesdays\, starting July 1st until the end of summer! \nTime: 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM \nLocation: Route 22 Artist Collective Gallery\, Cochrane AB \nAges: 8-15 \nPrice: $50 (+ GST | Fees) \nMore information and registration HERE!
