Mixed Media Artist

Shirley Hauck

Inspired by the landscape around me, I bring my background in fabric and textiles into my paintings. I explore texture and colour as a way to express my creativity and how I see the world.

Shirley Hauck weaves her love of fabric inter her paintings creating works that blend texture, depth and emotion. For many years she was an art quilter and textile artist receiving both local and international recognition for her innovative designs. After leaving the corporate world, Shirley turned her creative energy toward painting where her background in textiles continues to influence her approach to colour, layering and composition.

Living in the foothills of Alberta she draws inspiration not only from her deep connection to the land but also from the abundance and richness of the surrounding landscape – its structures, textures & natural fauna. Her paintings invite viewers to pause and look closer.

The intersection where art, culture and community converge.
Route 22 Gallery is located on the land of the Treaty 7 people. In the spirit of respect, reciprocity and truth, we honour and acknowledge the Treaty 7 territory and the cultural and oral practices of the Îyâxe Nakoda and Tsuut’ina nations as well as the Blackfoot confederacy: Siksika, Kainai, Piikani. We acknowledge that this territory is home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, (Métis Nation District 4) within the historical Northwest Métis homeland. It is a privilege and and an honour to share these lands as our collective home. Route 22 Artist Collective Gallery is an inclusive organization. We love our community and all are welcome here.
