Mixed Media and Textile Artist

Susanne Roth

Art is to be shared, not necessarily understood but appreciated for its individuality and feeling. Colour conveys feeling and is like food for the soul. Color is what attracts me. I hope I can share that feeling with the viewers.

Susanne Roth started painting silk scarves in 1988. She went to ACAD to get a fine art degree in painting (2001) but ended up with an interdisciplinary degree. Susanne started art quilting 10 years ago. The main focus of her art practice is to recycle stuff that others have discarded. Upcycled clothing, mixed media painting and making cards from bits of lace and textile that would otherwise be discarded. Having fun and making people smile. That is the main focus of her art.

The intersection where art, culture and community converge.
Route 22 Gallery is located on the land of the Treaty 7 people. In the spirit of respect, reciprocity and truth, we honour and acknowledge the Treaty 7 territory and the cultural and oral practices of the Îyâxe Nakoda and Tsuut’ina nations as well as the Blackfoot confederacy: Siksika, Kainai, Piikani. We acknowledge that this territory is home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, (Métis Nation District 4) within the historical Northwest Métis homeland. It is a privilege and and an honour to share these lands as our collective home. Route 22 Artist Collective Gallery is an inclusive organization. We love our community and all are welcome here.
