I enjoy painting my scenes, not using photographs to copy, but to give me inspiration.
William R Jones is an Alberta born artist, born in Stettler Alberta in 1944 but raised in Calgary Alberta. He first started his artistic career in his teens by drawing custom cars and hot rods. This is where he discovered that sketching is the first step into creating his art. He is proficient in using oils, watercolours, pastels and acrylics which he uses mainly today in his detailed paintings that are enjoyed by many collectors today.
Most of his paintings are inspired by places he has visited or animals and birds he has photographed across Canada. Although he was in Management Positions throughout his career he has always painted and sketched in his spare time. William has been a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists for over twenty years in both Alberta and British Columbia. He has paintings hanging in private collections throughout Canada and the United States.
As a self taught artist he has never tried to copy other artists but has created and developed his own style, A drafting course he had taken at SAIT in his early twenties, made him aware of using perspectives in all of his work. He has given art lessons to other artists in oil painting and perspective drawing. William has won many awards in the art shows and competitions he entered while living in British Columbia.
