Acrylic Winter Painting – Day Two

Acrylic Winter Painting!
Follow along with Marike MacDonald in this 2-day weekend workshop and learn to capture the quiet beauty of winter landscapes in acrylic painting!
Explore new techniques and deepen your skills!

LOCATION: Route 22 Artist Collective Gallery

Paint a painting each day — either following the instructor’s reference or following your own!

Materials:
To get the most from this course, quality materials are key. Brands that Marike has personally tried and are happy with are Golden, M. Graham, Winsor Newton, and Tri Art.
Please bring:
- Cadmium Red or Quinacridone Red
- Cadmium Red Light
- Cadmium Yellow Medium or Hansa Yellow
- Cadmium Yellow Light or Hansa Yellow Light
- Phthalo Blue (Green Shade)
- Ultramarine Blue
- Titanium White
- Additional colours like Transparent Red Oxide, Nickel Azo Yellow and Yellow Ochre may be used.
If you are unable to get any of these colours, your instructor will likely have some to share.
Please Also Bring:
- Sketchbook
- Wet Pallette or Dollar Store tray
- Blue shop cloths or Bounty paper towels
- Two containers for rinsing brushes (tall yogurt containers work well)
- One gesso board or gesso board per class (8×10″ or 9×11″)
- Flat brushes sizes 10, 6, and 4 (Catalyst, Silver or Princeton acrylic brushes recommended)
About the instructor:
Marike is known for her bold, expressive use of colour and her passion for encouraging artists and helping them grow. She has taught both adults and children in Ontario and brings a wealth of experience from solo and collaborative exhibitions. Her work is featured at Route 22 Collective Gallery in Cochrane, Alberta and Eclipse Gallery in Huntsville, Ontario.
