Painter

Alan T Jones

For me, art is sharing my perspective of nature and the beauty of our natural surroundings. My wish is to inspire others through my paintings to appreciate what life has to offer.

Alan Jones was born and raised in Calgary Alberta. He spent most of his life in the Calgary area except for a three-year period where he lived in the Okanagan Valley, British Columbia. Currently Alan lives in Cochrane Alberta.

Even as a small boy Alan loved the arts. He has a self-taught passion for painting & drawing. The majority of Alan’s artwork medium is watercolour and acrylic. However, he does produce a few pieces of artwork in pastel, pencil & oil. Alan’s inspiration for his artwork has always been realism. He depicts scenes of nature, local life, and he also does portraits.

Many years ago, Alan told his father that he wanted to be an Artist when he grew up. Alan’s father told him that you can become an artist, but only after you have made a career for yourself. Alan took his fathers words to heart. After a 38-year career in the insurance industry, Alan and his wife sold their insurance brokerage and retired. Alan has now finally begun to pursue his art career.

Alan is a member of Alberta Escape Artists Guild. Alan’s artwork can also be seen at Gust Gallery in Waterton Lakes National Park, Alberta. Alan also takes part in several art shows during the year in Cochrane and Calgary including Art In The Garden which is an artisan show that is held every year in July.

The intersection where art, culture and community converge.
Route 22 Gallery is located on the land of the Treaty 7 people. In the spirit of respect, reciprocity and truth, we honour and acknowledge the Treaty 7 territory and the cultural and oral practices of the Îyâxe Nakoda and Tsuut’ina nations as well as the Blackfoot confederacy: Siksika, Kainai, Piikani. We acknowledge that this territory is home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, (Métis Nation District 4) within the historical Northwest Métis homeland. It is a privilege and and an honour to share these lands as our collective home. Route 22 Artist Collective Gallery is an inclusive organization. We love our community and all are welcome here.
