Mixed Medium Artist

Mary Broers

I obtain my inspiration from all things beautiful on this earth.

An Albertan artist, born in Edmonton and raised in Lloydminster—an oil town on the Saskatchewan–Alberta border—Mary has always felt deeply connected to the natural world. She remembers playing in the woods as a child, collecting objects to bring home and paint. Animals, birds, and found objects all became subjects of her early work, which she combined into one-of-a-kind pieces of art.

After moving to Calgary and later Cochrane, Mary spent 20 years working in the dental field while continuing to take art classes. Eventually, she found herself drawn back to her childhood passion and is now focused on her art full time.

Mary’s current work explores the collision between nature and humanity, finding profound beauty in that intersection.

Nature Always Wins.

The intersection where art, culture and community converge.
Route 22 Gallery is located on the land of the Treaty 7 people. In the spirit of respect, reciprocity and truth, we honour and acknowledge the Treaty 7 territory and the cultural and oral practices of the Îyâxe Nakoda and Tsuut’ina nations as well as the Blackfoot confederacy: Siksika, Kainai, Piikani. We acknowledge that this territory is home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, (Métis Nation District 4) within the historical Northwest Métis homeland. It is a privilege and and an honour to share these lands as our collective home. Route 22 Artist Collective Gallery is an inclusive organization. We love our community and all are welcome here.
