An 8-Week Guided Soapstone Experience!

Unique Soapstone Experiences Studio: An 8-Week Guided Soapstone Experience!

This is an eight-week guided soapstone studio experience led by Michael Emery, where participants transform a solid block of stone into a finished sculpture. Each week builds on the last, giving participants the time, guidance, and techniques needed to develop their own piece from initial concept through final finishing.

Participants will learn the fundamentals of working with soapstone, including shaping, refining, sanding, and finishing techniques, while receiving guidance throughout the development of their individual piece. No previous carving or artistic experience is required. The focus is on learning through doing, building confidence with the material, and experiencing the satisfaction of creating something by hand over time.
