My inspiration is driven by nature. Being an artist has taken me to a place of infinite appreciation of all things living and the beauty of our landscape. It’s never ending and full of color.
Kathy Adamo was born in Nova Scotia and has lived the past 49 years in Calgary. A defining moment in her process of becoming a painter was when a friend gave her a book on Monet’s work. Yet it was another 20 years before she enrolled at Swinton’s Art Supply for a beginners class.
Since that time, painting has been an important part of her life for a multitude of reasons.
In 2005, enrolled in a France workshop, under Mike Svob, she branched out into plein air painting which is her preferred method but weather doesn’t always permit.
Locally, she has studied with Erica Neumann, Doug Swinton, Neil Patterson, Frank Serrano, David Sharpe and Ingrid Christensen.
There are so many avenues to explore in the painting world. Her vision is to keep going on any that lend an opportunity.

“I began painting in 1999 and it has changed who I am. I look at things with an intense appreciation that I don’t remember having before painting. It can provide me joy and can make me cry. I love to paint.”
