In my art I seek to create a visual experience, drawing the viewer into the scene. My new work comprised of old maps and archived images recreated together on canvas, brings alive our history as a people, combing scenes and maps from the archives that are meant to draw the viewer in to explore both the landscape and the images that reflect the place and time in our history.
Telling a story with my art without words is fascinating. I find with my new series of paintings, viewers often spend a long time immersing themselves in the maps and often engaging in historical conversations.
