Susan Lindsay

Art is a fluid and ongoing adventure that I find myself mixed up in.  I am always trying new styles, new mediums and ways of communicating how I feel about or see my own world.  I once worked for a man that called me his “Jacqueline of all trades” as I could easily fit into different roles.  This is seen in my art as well, as I love painting, drawing, photography, pottery, sculpture and “Frankensteining”  clothes.   Depending on my mood, or even just by something that has caught my attention, my art changes to what best captures what it is that I see in my own mind’s eye.    My newest passion is enjoying the thrill of the hunt in finding one-of-a-kind pieces of wood that have animalistic characteristics that I can expand on.  These fun pieces seem to take on a life of their own as I embellish the wood to make those animal qualities come to life.

I enjoy being outside, and being near the water and when I am scouting about, my eyes are on the ground.  I love to find things that people generally overlook and typically bypass.  When I stop to investigate,  I feel like a kid that is exploring and then I feel the need to share what it is that I’ve found.  That’s when the next part of my artistic mind steps in and asks, “what medium am I going to express this moment in today?”
