As a new photographer, I am working to turn my perspective from “Black & White” (after 50 years as a Geologist) to “shades of Grey” (or colour), in the hopes of capturing some of the many wonders around us. My years of looking at the ground tend to influence what I am seeing for photo subjects, resulting in a lot of bugs/flowers/animals/people… still developing a bigger view for scenery.
Ted Hannah is a retired Canadian Geologist, who is working to reinvent his photography skills, with modern technology, to capture a vision of the world around us. His career-driven eye for detail has initially directed many of his photos to be focused on smaller bugs, frogs and flowers, but as time progresses, the animals, plants, and rocks get bigger. Opportunities to shoot sporting and cultural events have become fun.
Small exhibitions at the Stampede Gallery (2025 & 2026) and Guy’s Bakery & Cafe (3 in 2025 & 2026) have given this “newbie” some valuable exposure and experience. It is exciting to look forward to future opportunities with Route 22 Gallery, as well as with the Cochrane Camera Club.
