Afton Brazzoni

Painter

“I have always been drawn to nature — its majesty and magic, its silence and stillness. Days spent exploring the beaches and forests of Nova Scotia as a child turned into a decade of discovering the trails of the Canadian Rockies in my 20s. I first captured these beloved landscapes through the medium of photography. In recent years, I have begun to translate my images into paintings.

Working with oil on canvas, I aim to convey both the grandeur and detail of nature in my art. My style is largely realistic, and similar in both colour and composition to my reference photos.

The process of revisiting some of my most cherished moments in nature through painting brings me joy, and I hope to convey a sense of peace and awe in my work.”

The intersection where art, culture and community converge.

Route 22 Gallery is located on the land of the Treaty 7 people. In the spirit of respect, reciprocity and truth, we honour and acknowledge the Treaty 7 territory and the cultural and oral practices of the Îyâxe Nakoda and Tsuut’ina nations as well as the Blackfoot confederacy: Siksika, Kainai, Piikani. We acknowledge that this territory is home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, (Métis Nation District 4) within the historical Northwest Métis homeland. It is a privilege and and an honour to share these lands as our collective home.

Route 22 Artist Collective Gallery is an inclusive organization. We love our community and all are welcome here.
