Title: Mixing Linocut and Acrylic Paints

Audience: Beginner/Intermediate
Course Description: Explore the potential of using relief printmaking processes with your Acrylic art supplies and techniques. The instructor will guide you on the ways you can utilize a new art form with your existing art supplies and experience. Using printing techniques in a painting allows you to repeat patterns, work in series and create expressive symbols that you can utilize in many ways! All supplies included.
What Students will Learn:
· Basic carving techniques on Softcut linoleum
· How to use Acrylic Paints for printmaking
· Preparing and printing on Canvas and Cradled panel
· How to respond to printed elements with painting techniques.
Student Supplies:
· Notebook and pen
· Water bottle and lunch
· Simple ideas or sketches if helpful (we will have class time to develop ideas)
· Bring reading glasses if you require them for finer work.
· Students are encouraged to bring their own linocut tools and acrylic painting supplies if they already own them but there is no requirement to buy any tools for this class.
Instructor Bio: Michelle Wiebe is a Cochrane, Alberta based artist focused primarily on painting, printmaking, and letterpress. Her work is characterized by simple subject matter rendered with bold colour and line work. Michelle is also a passionate instructor with a deep love for teaching, she makes it her goal that students leave her class with quality work and the confidence to continue building their new skills. She has regularly instructed at Inglewood Art Supplies, Alberta Printmakers and the Leighton Artist Centre. www.michellewiebe.com
