Educational Tour Packages

Join us for an enriching educational tour at our art gallery and gift shop! This program offers a guided exploration of our diverse collection, the social, personal & historical influence of art in society, and a customized interactive activity. Perfect for students of all ages, this experience combines education with creativity.

Educational Tour Package

In this unique educational program, students have an opportunity to visit the Route 22 Gallery & Gift shop to experience amazing local art in an intimate setting. They will learn about the structure of the Artist Collective as an organization, discuss/identify a variety of mediums of art, meet resident members & artists on site for a Q & A session, and then partake in an interactive sketching activity with an Art Educator in our MakerSpace studio. Students will be given materials to customize their own Route 22 pocket sketchbook to take home, and then be guided through 1-3 drawing activities designed to boost creativity and artistic confidence. In substitution or addition to this tour, students can view a short video presentation about the impact of art in society both historically and in modern culture. Students are encouraged to bring spending money if they wish to purchase items from our gift shop – there are many affordable options!

1 hr Tour Package (maximum 16 students) $200

Seniors Appreciation Package

This flexible program package allows for 1.5 hours of guided art instruction as a field trip for seniors, or as an in-house program at their own facility. Seniors will receive demonstrational guidance and one-on-one support to complete their chosen project. Residents can choose from the following projects (one per session):

Rocky Mountain Watercolor Landscape
Card Making
Folded Book Tree/Flower Sculpture
Decorated Plant Pots (soil & seeds included)
Photo Collage Boards

Price: $250

*Please note that our facility is wheelchair and walker accessible but may not be suitable for seniors with severe mobility issues*

Birthday Package

Want to indulge your child’s inner artist but do not want to deal with the messy aftermath at home? We have the ideal solution! This comprehensive package includes:

3 hours use of the Makerspace studio
Supplies for each child to complete a 5×7 watercolor or acrylic painting (this can be themed and guided by an educator, or can be freely creative and non-guided)
Use of the kitchenette area for snack or cake storage/preparation (food not provided)
Use of the flatscreen to watch videos or listen to music during your party
Fresh popcorn from our popcorn machine (optional)
Customized Route 22 pocket sketchbook OR customized Route 22 Coloring sheets

Price: $175 (max of 8 children) $225 (max of 12 children)

Two parent chaperones are mandatory for children under 12. One parent chaperone is mandatory for children 12+.

Corporate Retreat/Team Building Packages

Collaborative Painting

In this 1.5 hour painting activity, teamwork makes the dream work as your group is guided through a step by step co-operative process to create several artworks – giving individuals a short time frame to contribute to each canvas that will eventually become a completed painting with an overall theme. Each participant then has an opportunity to give constructive feedback and insight about their own elements or their colleagues work, to foster interpersonal connection and positive communication in the workplace.

Price: $850 (maximum of 16 people)

‘Found’ Prose

In this 1 hour creative collage activity, co-workers will be prompted with a cohesive theme relevant to their industry or specific mission statement – and provided with the necessary materials/guidance to produce an individualized visual response using both words and pictures. Participants will then take turns briefly sharing their reflections and process as a group; an exercise designed to enhance professional courtesy, perspective and respect. The final product will be unique mixed media projects that can be framed and kept as statement pieces for the office, or as personal mementos of inspiration.
Price: $650 (maximum of 20 people)

I am a professional geologist by passion, training and practice. I came to Alberta in 1976 and Cochrane in 1999, where geology meets geography in the stunning foothills vistas! I have some roots here – my great grandfather emigrated from Scotland to manage cattle on what is now Anchor C Ranch up Grand Valley Rd, & my grandfather was born there in 1891!

My other passions are horses & art. My Dad – a naval officer – traveled the world & brought home African fabrics, masks, figurines, Swedish crystal, Norwegian sweaters .…he had an eye for cultural and artistic emblems. My mother loved fine antique furniture, architecture & fashion. It all rubbed off on me & I have acquired many art forms on my own world travels.

My various Board positions over the last 30 years [Director, Secretary, Advisor] have helped me learn best practices in governance, public education, risk management, record keeping & filings with government agencies. I am an Equine Canada Coach & for 10 years ran my USA cross border horse transport business where I required many unique skills to navigate complex regulations & ‘make it happen” with live animals, border agents, customs brokers, veterinarians & of course my clients.

I know I can use my expertise & dedication to life-long learning to contribute to the Route 22 Gallery. I value working as a Team; together we produce extraordinary synergies & outcomes to honour the history, culture and community of this amazing Cochrane area.
