Description:
This event is perfect for those who are new to painting or want to try something unique and challenging. Our experienced instructor will guide you through the basics of plein air painting, where you will learn to capture the beauty of the valleys, rivers and mountains in real time. Grab your brushes, paint and something to paint on, and learn the best practices learned from your instructors years of honing his craft. The focus of the class will be on capturing some of the beauty that exists in the natural landscape, providing some means and methods to translate a natural scene into a painting.
Don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity to explore your artistic side in a stunning natural setting; and remember to dress for the weather, this is an outdoor event!
Please bring the following supplies for this workshop:
-a medium sized canvas or board to paint on
-at least one set of primary color paints, and white (acrylic is best for beginners)
-a variety of brushes
**Route 22 will provide easels, palettes, paper towel and extra paintbrushes for participants.
What IS Plein Air Painting?
En plein air is a French expression meaning “in the open air”, and refers to the act of painting outdoors with the artist’s subject in full view. Plein air artists capture the spirit and essence of a landscape or subject by incorporating natural light, color and movement into their works.
About the instructor:
Make your paintings real. Stephen is an avid landscape painter, with a preference for painting outside, “en plein air”. and is a lifelong learner of the art of painting. He has been painting full time for 3 years, prior to which he spent 30 years practicing Architecture.
