Soil to Soul Pottery Creations

Robyn Cooper is a potter located in Airdrie, Alberta. She moved to Alberta in 1989 and settled in Airdrie with her husband and children. Art has been a driving force in her life from a very young age, when her mother encouraged her to explore different creative possibilities starting by playing with clay and mud puddles in her backyard in Quebec.

After a 3 year extensive program at John Abbot College, she received her Ceramic Technology degree in 1978.

Since living in Airdrie, she has participated in many art projects in the city. These projects include participating in the first ARTember event, painting several chairs for public auction to support the art community, becoming a member of The Airdrie Arts Society, painting a bench and picnic table in a city beautification projects, and contributing to the Airdrie Food Bank with art projects and silent auction items. She also taught evening courses with Rockyview County in hand building in clay.

In 2019, an opportunity became available to enter the clay community by attending classes at a local studio. After reconnecting with her love of her favourite art form, she decided to venture on her own and open her own home studio. It was through an inheritance left by her mother that she was able to start this journey after more than 45 years.

There has always been a connection to the earth in her life through gardening, sculpting, creating pottery on the wheel, and working with an environmental recycling company for years. Her pottery reflects her love for beautiful colours, textures, and quite often themes of nature and flowers.
