Time: 1-5pm

Location: Cochrane Ranch House (outside)

Audience: 18+, all levels welcome (some painting experience with oil and/or acrylic is recommended)

Cost: $65

Description: In partnership with Come Paint Alberta, this workshop pays tribute to the traditional art of Plein Air Painting. Meeting in the green space of the beautiful Cochrane Ranchehouse, students will learn:

  • How to set up their painting equipment
  • How to prepare materials for a safe & effective on-site painting station
  • Basics of approach, design, color, composition & value

Leading by example, David will be doing a painting of his own to help get everyone started on the process. Once students are successfully set up and have begun their piece, he will take turns observing everyone individually to give personalized feedback and guidance. A rare opportunity to meet other like-minded artists while receiving one-on-one instruction.

In order to convey emotional meaning in our paintings, we must learn to see again, to use the head and the heart in tandem. This is what I attempt to convey with my painting and what I try to teach in my workshops” – David Sharpe

**For this workshop, please meet at the main entrance to the Ranchehouse to check in with your instructor prior to spreading out and setting up your equipment**
