Title: Youth Drawing
Type of Course: Weekly Class – 5 sessions
Dates: Sept 27, Oct 4, 11, 18, 25
Running Time: 4:00pm – 5:00pm
Audience: Youth Aged 15+

Description:

The instructor will guide students through a variety of pencil techniques including shading, texture, and the steps to create a drawing. We will be working with observational drawing, which is learning to draw from life and from references.

Session 1 – basics of working with a pencil & drawing techniques

Session 2- Understanding lighting, shading, and blending

Session 3 – Steps to create a drawing, putting everything together.

Session 4 & 5 – Observational guided drawings. Experiments with various types of dry media including charcoal, conte, and pastels.

What Students will Learn:  

• How to work with a pencil

• How to understand lighting and shading

• Various pencil and drawing techniques

• How to build a complete drawing from start to finish

Student Supplies : 

• Notebook or sketchbook (blank paper) and pencil

• Water bottle

• Optional: if you have your own drawing pencil or drawing materials, please feel free to bring them!

Instructor Bio :

Jayme Kveder has been a visual arts teacher for over 8 years serving the communities of Lethbridge, Carstairs and Cochrane. She received her B.F.A. and B. Ed from the University of Lethbridge. While focussing on high school for most of her career, she has had experience teaching grades 6 through to 12. Art has always played a significant role in Jayme’s life; she specializes in an illustrative style and loves working with Inks and watercolour (although her first love will always be painting).
