Title: Youth Intro to Watercolour
Type of Course: Weekly Class – 5 sessions
Dates: Nov 8, 15, 22, 29, Dec 6
Running Time: 4:00pm – 5:30pm
Audience: Youth Aged 15+

Description: The instructor will guide students through a variety of techniques to build colour, detail and depth to their watercolour paintings. Students will learn how to do washes, glazes, resists and lifts as well as learn the secrets of adding realistic effects to their work.

Session 1 – Watercolour techniques, understanding how to use the brush and paint

Session 2 – Basics of colour theory, learning how to mix colours

Session 3 – Step by step mini desert painting

Session 4 – Part 1 of lake & mountain painting

Session 5 – Part 2 of lake & mountain painting

What Students will Learn:  

• How to prepare paper and brushes

• Various colour mixing and wash techniques

• How to paint details and build colour

Student Supplies : 

• Notebook and pen

• Water bottle

• Optional: if you have your own watercolours, brushes and paper please feel free to bring along

Instructor Bio :

Jayme Kveder has been a visual arts teacher for over 8 years serving the communities of Lethbridge, Carstairs and Cochrane. She received her B.F.A. and B. Ed from the University of Lethbridge. While focussing on high school for most of her career, she has had experience teaching grades 6 through to 12. Art has always played a significant role in Jayme’s life; she specializes in an illustrative style and loves working with Inks and watercolour (although her first love will always be painting).
