Class Description:
In this class, students will learn the basics of linocut printmaking. The instructor will teach students about composition, safe cutting techniques and how to pull prints. Also covered will be information about choosing tools, ink and papers suitable for a wide range of projects. Participants will leave with hand pulled prints of their own design, their own carved blocks as well as the skill to practice at home using basic art materials. All supplies included.
Instructor Biography:
Michelle Wiebe is a Cochrane, Alberta based artist focused primarily on painting, printmaking and letterpress. Her work is characterized by simple subject matter rendered with bold colour and line work. Michelle is also a passionate instructor with a deep love for teaching, she makes it her goal that students leave her class with quality work and the confidence to continue building their new skills. She can also be found doing collaborations, demonstrations and commission pieces. She is the Programming and Engagement Coordinator at Alberta Printmakers and a member of the Leighton Artist Centre.

- Simple ideas or sketches if helpful (we will have class time to develop ideas)
- Bring reading glasses if you require them for finer work.
- Students are encouraged to bring their own tools if they already own them but there is no requirement to buy any tools for this class.
