Alan Jones

Painter

Alan Jones was born and raised in Calgary Alberta. He spent the majority of his life in the Calgary area except for a three-year period where he lived in the Okanagan Valley, British Columbia. Currently Alan resides in Cochrane Alberta.

Even as a small boy Alan loved the arts. He has a self-taught passion for painting & drawing. The majority of Alan’s artwork medium is watercolour and acrylic. However, he does produce a few pieces of artwork in pastel, pencil & oil. Alan’s inspiration for his artwork has always been realism. He depicts scenes of nature, local life, and he also does portraits.

Many years ago, Alan told his father that he wanted to be an Artist when he grew up. Alan’s father told him that “You can become an artist, but only after you have made a career for yourself.” Alan took his fathers words to heart. After a 38-year career in the insurance industry, Alan and his wife sold their insurance brokerage and retired. At that time Alan finally began to finally pursue his art career.

Alan is a member of the Foothills Art Club and the Alberta Escape Artists Guild. Alan’s artwork can also be seen at Gust Gallery in Waterton Lakes National Park, Alberta and at Route 22 Artist Collective Gallery in Cochrane Alberta. Alan also takes part in several art shows during the year in Cochrane and Calgary including Art In The Garden which is an artisan show that is held every year in July.

Alan has done many commission pieces and can be contacted via email, telephone, Facebook or Instagram.
