I have lived in Cochrane for 27 years and am now semi-retired. I trained as an agricultural biologist at University and worked for many years as a field biologist/agronomist in Canadian Agriculture.
I feel very fortunate to live in Western Canada where there are so many excellent subjects for my passion photographing rustic Western themes. Every old barn and rusting truck or car that I come across becomes the centerpiece of my next work. As the years come and go more of these precious relics from the past are disappearing from the landscape. I do my best to capture scenes in my images that will preserve these memories in the years to come.
My rustic images are all taken in Western Canada where we have so many old vehicles and buildings that decay slowly in our dry climate. These old trucks and cars were once the workhorses of the farming communities on the Prairies. They now slowly rust away with the exception of the few that are restored by collectors. The old barns at one time provided shelter for livestock and were storehouses for crops. Farming has changed and these barns are now empty and for the most part forgotten.
