Denise Smith

Photographer

Denise has a connection to and a passion for the wondrous nature and culture that surrounds us all. These values are exhibited exquisitely in her artwork. Currently living in Cochrane, she enthusiastically works on paintings and photography. Her goal is to turn everything into an artistic interpretation of the subject, providing a connection to color, emotions, and beauty.

Denise grew up by the ocean in a small town on Cape Breton Island surrounded by natures’ art. As a self-taught artist, she began painting in oils as a means of expression to capture the beauty and culture of the island’s countryside. Denise created a bond with local artists and spent many hours painting at workshops with them in Sydney, NS.

Eventually she moved to Alberta where she was captivated by the wildlife and mountainous landscape. With an IT background, she integrates technology into her art creations.

She has been fortunate to have travelled to many countries with a camera in hand, allowing her to capture their culture and raw beauty.

Denise’s art includes photography and painting (acrylic, oil, and alcohol ink).
