Janet Loewen

Glass Artist

I love colour. And light.  And the endless combinations of colour and light.  I think that is why I am drawn to stained glass.  I started with the traditional lead came technique when I discovered the glass work of architect Frank Lloyd Wright.  In the past few years, I have explored adding three dimensional vessels to my stained glass – and the world has opened up.

Recently, I have been exploring various mosaic techniques in my work.  I am thrilled to be upcycling dishes and plates and cutlery, as well as picture frames and old windows and incorporating them into my art.  There is something magical in transforming vessels into art that were once only utilitarian in nature. Enjoy.
