My name is Jeanne Durrell. I have been painting for around 10 years I have always been creative – my clothing, make up, style of clothing and decorating – and always appreciated art but was very insecure about my own work! This stems back to early school days, being ADHD, my school life was quite unhappy! Art work wasn’t completed – so always stayed in the classroom drawer, never being displayed! So I went to University to become a teacher – School had to be better! I taught for 19 years before moving to Cochrane and becoming a mother.
That’s where I met Sharon Kulhavy – she was my neighbor. Over the years I have purchased local artists work – adorning my walls – I have always loved ART! Once my husband retired – my house was somewhat crapped, as he took over my kitchen. Time being heavy on my hands – I called Sharon – for a coffee – and when I got there – she had an easel set up for me! Let’s paint!
My heart sank and the little girl insecurity came out in a raging manner!
However, Sharon’s persuasive personality and extreme talent/patience I became hooked! Now I try to paint at least 3 days a week – I rent an easel from Sharon at Final Touch Art Studio, here in Cochrane. My husband was diagnosed with Cancer – so the oil paint couldn’t live at my home – due to the off gassing and odours. So I continue to paint at Final Touch – it’s a great little community of people! I really enjoy the creativeness of painting – and that is shown in my works. Enjoy!
