As a former hiking guide, Kelly knows that paths are never straight, never predictable, and rarely boring!
Following an unexpected end to her music teaching career in 2019, Kelly began to devote more time to visual arts practice. She began a part time Fine Art diploma program at Emily Carr University in 2021 and it didn’t take her long before she found her footing on her new path! Kelly became a member of Route 22 Artist’s Collective in 2022, was juried into the Calgary Artists’ Society and in 2023 she won the Rose Baxter People’s Choice Award at the Paint the Foothills plein air event. Her illustrations have been featured in publications at ECU and she is excited to be working on her capstone project which combines her passion for accessibility in the arts, mental health and illustration.
The momentum continues as more and more of Kelly’s creations are represented in different galleries and locations in Western Canada. Her paintings can be found in private collections in Australia, USA, Germany, the Netherlands and across Canada. She is grateful for the opportunity to be creatively productive and hopes to inspire inclusivity in the arts.
