Shirley Hauck

Painter

Gustav Klimt’s quote speaks to me as I best express myself through art rather than with words. His use of colour, movement and patterns is most inspiring.

After high school I backpacked through Europe for several months; things seemed so much more uncomplicated and easy back then. When I returned I met and married my husband and worked in the corporate world while we started our family. We then bought our own business and worked together for many years. During this time I started quilting and moved into art quilting and textile art, winning local and international awards. When we sold the business I was able to spend more time on my art. Quilting took a toll on my hands and I started painting, bringing my two favourite mediums together by incorporating my fabric into my paintings.

After living on an acreage in the Foothills of Alberta surrounded by beautiful inspirational views for many years we moved to a beautiful town in the Foothills, enjoying the simpler life!
