Val Rangen

Painter

Art is all around us! Art takes many forms, it is in the landscape, our architecture, our clothing, our furnishings, our vehicles, graffiti, murals, on our walls and on and on. I like to focus my artistry on the abstract impressionism style of painting whether in acrylic, alcohol inks, or mixed media. In our modern world we are bombarded with images and choosing the art in our daily environment enhances our lives and is an extension of ourselves.

Exploring our world through the play of colours intermingling to create images and interactions offers me limitless expression. Abstracts appeal to me as each time you view the art in a different light or state of mind you can see something new and discover an inner depth in the art or yourself.

Using varied media to create a variety of textures, atmosphere and movement allows for boundless creativity. Being someone who gains new insight through travel and from our mountains, lakes, rivers and forests the memory of a scene or experience is where I often find inspiration. My subject matter varies extensively as I like to push boundaries and colour outside the lines to reflect my world and our universe.
